Dr. Pavel Zhelnov

Dr. Pavel Zhelnov is a PhD student at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (University of Toronto), co-registered with the Knowledge Translation Program. He completed his training as an orthopedic surgeon at Pavlov University in Saint Petersburg. His other interests include knowledge synthesis and mobilization, methods research, and software development. He contributed to 12 national clinical practice guidelines, influencing healthcare policy for over 140 million people. He led four knowledge syntheses, including one of the first scoping reviews in Russian. His work in software development includes tools that automate research processes and improve public access to knowledge. His doctoral research, in partnership with the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Evidence Alliance and under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Tricco, aims to co-create a tool to identify and prevent waste in health research; more at ResearchWaste.info.
