Access STEMM

Summary

Women and racialized persons are under-represented in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) careers. External factors among youth (e.g. lack of role models, gender stereotypes) are STEM gatekeepers. Access STEMM is an interdisciplinary youth outreach program designed to increase access to the intellectual, physical and mentorship space forged by STEM scientists and entrepreneurs at St. Michael’s Hospital whose work is also advancing medicine. Access STEMM has engaged hundreds of youth from Toronto high schools with a low Learning Opportunity Index. The KT Program works in partnership with Pathways to Education – Regent Park on this project.
