Why did you join the KTP?

Having a background in Health Studies and Psychology, I always had a keen interest in finding ways to easily communicate key messages and make research more accessible to the general public and KTP did exactly that! KTP has provided me with the opportunity to play a small part in taking knowledge that we gain through research and putting it into practice in ways that are meaningful to the end-users. I get to directly engage with end-users, whether it be health care professionals or patient partners, to learn more about how to effectively communicate and implement the research findings in the community and then also evaluate and ensure what has been done is in fact working for them. The KTP allows me to witness and understand how research can make a difference in the community if it was made more accessible to everyone.

What has been the most rewarding project you’ve worked on and why?

I truly love and enjoy my work with KTP and in particular, the most recent Healthy Aging Priority Setting Project has been such a rewarding experience. This study aims to identify questions and health topics that are important for healthy aging among older adults in Ontario. From being a part of the initial phases of development to now being able to go into the community to speak with older adults and caregivers about their needs, I have the opportunity to directly engage and co-create this study with older adults, caregivers and other health care professionals to ensure research findings are representative, relevant and useful for supporting health aging and to ensure they have a say in how the future of research is shaped.

Interests outside KTP?

Outside of KTP, I love doing photography, dance, making candles, going on hikes and spending time with family and friends!
